Definition:
A type of literature written in verses and lines that expresses feelings, describes things, and/or shows senses; it may rhyme but does not have to.
Example:
"I'm nobody! Who are you?
Are you nobody, too?

They'd banish us, you know.

Significance:
Poetry allow people to express their feelings, to fantasize through words, and to read them aloud for entertainment. Poems from long ago allow us to learn what life was like in that era. We are going to learn, read, and write all kinds of poetry in our English class.
